WARNING: Spoilers about tonight's episode of Lost below.
So, what did we learn tonight? Well, I guess for at least the rest of the season, Jack is still going to be large and in charge, despite his nearly unblemished record of doing the wrong thing, each and every time he has the opportunity.
The island has a ghost spirit named Jacob. Locke's job is to help the island. Which is going to be hard with a bullet lodged in his kidney, but what the hell: if you can survive a plane crash and then get up out of your wheelchair and walk away, surely a measly little 9mm isn't going to do anything much to you.
I'm not all that excited about the new Pirates of the Carribean movie, and the commercials aren't helping.
Ben is a fuckwit. But we kind of already knew that. But now we know he's not a mysterious fuckwit, he's a devious, traitorous, patricidal fuckwit. Dear lord, does anyone on this godforsaken island not have father issues? Might as well subtitle the show, 'Waaaa, I Had a Terrible Father'.
Lastly, there is clearly some sort of indication that this island is some sort of waystation between the realms of the living and the dead. So is everyone from Flight 815 dead? My notice last week was that we had never actually seen someone who had travelled from the island to the 'real world'. But now we know that Richard did, so the island isn't actually hell. Well, okay, it could still be hell, and Richard could be some sort of demon (island's "original inhabitants"....) Either way, lots of dead people show up. And also horses. So the island is some sort of bridge between the two.
In short, I don't know anything more than I did previously. But, the season is wrapping up well, after really laboring in the first few episodes after the extended break. So I am pleased. Two straight weeks of great episodes of Heroes and Lost, with a fine House in the middle. Hooray for TV!
